BIOMARES - PROJECT FOR THE PRESERVATION OF THE MARINE PARK LUIZ SALDANHA

The Biomares project was born out of the need to preserve the biodiversity of the Luiz Saldanha Marine Park, in the heart of the Arrábida Natural Park.
According to the scientific studies carried out so far, it has been concluded that this area has unique characteristics and that for this reason it has high conservation needs.

In this sense, Biomares resorted to the help of community funds and co-financing projects, with the aim of creating infrastructures that make it possible to reconcile nautical and recreational activities with the conservation of the most sensitive areas. The marine grasslands, destroyed in the last decade, have also been covered by recovery programs aimed at restoring previously existing habitats.

The preservation of the environment becomes even more important, since the prairies are areas where species such as cuttlefish, ray, sole or spider crab find refuge and food during the growth period.

The catalog is available on the Biomares website of the main species that make up the Luiz Saldanha Marine Park. The images are authored by several photographers, who provide their records to the Biomares project.
